about mitoxantrone -an anthracenedione derivative a type ii topoisomerase inhibitor anti-neoplastic. -mechanism of action of mitoxantrone -this drug shows its anticancer activity by different mechanisms. drug intercalates the dna cause inter/intra strand cross linking. the drug can also bind to the topoisomerase enzyme2 which is necessary for the cell to divide and so grow into 2 new cells. if the drug binds with dna it gets tangled up and the cell cannot divide. this is cell cycle phase-nonspecific -indications for mitoxantrone -1. chronic myelogenous leukemia -2. non hodgkins disease -3. breast cancer -4. acute non lymphocytic leukemia -5. hormone-refractory prostate cancer -6. multiple sclerosis -7. lymphomas -8. gastric cancer -9. liver cancer -10. ovarian cancer -11. prostate cancer
